The concept of the SouperMarket is not an original idea. There are "soup houses" in cities all over the country. The idea of a small "specialty" food establishment (like a soup house) exists across the globe. I will say this, only because it is often asked: I did not get this idea from the television show Seinfeld, so I guess this means I'm not the Soup Nazi!
The SouperMarket was born by attempting to find a unique niche that was not a dominant presence in the Cleveland food scene. The concept is that of a soup house specializing in creating hand-crafted soups and stocks, made from scratch, using the finest ingredients we can obtain. Our stocks are hand-made the classic way. We simmer the bones and meats of chicken, veal, and fish with vegetables, herbs, and spices for various amounts of time, thereby creating a rich broth used as the base for soups and sauces. This, essentially, is what a stock is. We also provide vegetable stock which is 100% vegan. There are no additives or preservatives in any of our stocks. The same goes for everything else we make at the SouperMarket, from our soups, to our unique array of salads, salad dressings, and vinaigrettes. You can purchase our stock by the quart or by the gallon frozen. Our dressings and vinaigrettes can be purchased by the pint, all fresh and hand-made in house.
Our regular menu changes with the seasons. We attempt to utilize ingredients that are obtainable for a particular season. In the Fall and Winter we will have heartier soups and lighten up on the salads a bit. In the Spring and Summer we will have lighter soups and will have a greater selection of salads. We will always offer chilled soups in the Summer and continue to be creative with our recipes as our repertoire grows continuously! Other light options like our popular East Coast Crab Cake, and potato pancake as well as other "fork needed" items will be available as well.
including some delicious roasted pulled meat sandwiches, like pork, beef, and duck!
Our concept is growing, as are we. We are now scouting the near east side for our third store. !
Our target opening wil be Fall of 2008, so wish us luck, stay posted, and we'll see you soon east siders!
Thanks for all of your business and support! We look forward to seeing you soon!
Matt, and all the gang at the SouperMarket
